Jennifer Rempel has built a growing reputation as one of this country's premiere decorative artists. She has created murals, trompe l'oeil works and faux finishes in every imaginable classical and modern style for both corporate and residential clients through her company Fine Art On Commission.
Jennifer's large-scale commissions encompass: six murals and complimentary wall finishes for the Alcoa Corporate Center; a triptych of classical paintings of Michelangelo sculptures at Pittsburgh International Airport; a 70' landscape mural for Woodside Plantation in South Carolina, and a 30' Japanese landscape mural in the style of the legendary printmaker Hiroshige.
PBS featured Jennifer's work in their recent television production, Pennsylvania Train Stations, Restored and Revitalized. Her architecturally sensitive interior treatments, faux finishes, and large-scale calligraphic work are examined on site as she discusses her colorful and inventive redesign of public spaces at Pittsburgh's historic landmark The Pennsylvanian. Designed in 1902 by legendary architect Daniel Burnham, this former beaux arts-style train station, now an exclusive apartment/office complex, has been undergoing extensive restoration.
I am dedicated to both preservation and creation: the preservation of classical decorative painting techniques and imagery, and the creation of new and unique artwork based upon the aesthetic wealth of the past. As I strive to create world-class, museum-quality decorative work, my ultimate goal is to reveal the power of art in the context of the everyday.
